If the State has control over the identification of individuals in the real world, it has yet to conquer this faculty online at a time when the major platforms have developed their own identification tools. Several devices are thus emerging, in which the State plays an active role, directly or indirectly. On the whole, these systems deserve to be encouraged, although particular vigilance is required, at the risk of seeing identity become an ordinary object of the market, through the certification function.
